As a conditioner: after washing your hair with shampoo, apply the conditioner to the length of your hair from the top of your ear downwards, preferably combing it in. Do not apply to the scalp. Leave on for 1-2 minutes and rinse thoroughly with water.

As a mask: apply to the length of the hair from the top of the ear downwards to damp, towel-dried hair after washing with shampoo. Do not apply to the scalp. Rinse thoroughly with water after 15-20 minutes.

How long should I leave the hair mask on?

Usually 5–15 min; repair masks 20–30 min. Follow the label and don't exceed the time unnecessarily.

Should I apply the mask to my scalp?

Usually not—most masks are intended for the lengths/ends of the hair. The exception is scalp masks (clearly marked as such). Read the instructions.

Humectant, emollient, or protein mask—which one should you choose?

Humectants (e.g., glycerin) moisturize, emollients (oils/butters) seal and smooth, and proteins (keratin, silk) replenish deficiencies. Maintain the PEH balance.

How to match a hair mask to your hair porosity?

Low: light emollients, low protein. Medium: balanced PEH (Proteins, Emollients, Humectants). High: richer emollients + hydrolyzed proteins; control humectants.

Does the mask weigh down fine hair?

It's possible. Use lighter formulas, shorter application times, apply from the ears down, and rinse thoroughly. The Orientana conditioning mask is specially designed for fine hair.

Can I leave the mask on without rinsing?

Only if it's labeled as "leave-in". The Orientana hair mask requires rinsing; otherwise, it may irritate/weigh down the hair.

When does it work better: before washing or after washing?

Pre-wash protects and softens, while post-wash penetrates more effectively on clean hair. Choose the method based on the purpose and type of mask.

Does heat increase the effectiveness of the mask?

Yes. Gentle warmth (cap, towel) improves penetration; avoid high temperatures to prevent excessive scaling.

Mask for colored/chemically treated hair?

How do I know if I have protein overload?

The hair is stiff, dull, and brittle. Stop using protein treatments, use a humectant + emollient, and shorten the application time of masks.

Silicones in masks—yes or no?

Orientana does not use synthetic silicones, but those of natural origin. If you use gentle shampoos to wash your hair, synthetic silicones will build up on it.
