Orientana Sandalwood - Ayurvedic harmony of skin and senses
Orientana Sandalwood is one of the most iconic series in the Orientana brand portfolio. It is based on two raw materials of exceptional importance in Ayurveda and modern cosmetology: sandalwood extract (Santalum album) and turmeric (Curcuma longa). This combination has been meeting the needs of skin requiring balance, soothing, and regeneration for almost 15 years. The series was created as a result of personal experience – Anna Wasilewska's trip to India and learning Ayurveda at its source was the inspiration. Today, Orientana Sandalwood is an iconic line, valued by both cosmetologists and conscious consumers looking for natural but truly effective solutions. Sandalwood and Turmeric - Science Confirms Ayurvedic Wisdom Sandalwood extract is rich in natural bioactive compounds with soothing and protective effects. In cosmetics, it is primarily valued for its properties: soothing and anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, supporting skin balance and epidermal comfort, strengthening the hydrolipidic barrier function. Research indicates that compounds present in raw materials obtained from sandalwood can support the reduction of oxidative stress and limit the activity of inflammatory mediators such as TNF-α and IL-6. Thanks to this, sandalwood extract is used in the care of sensitive, combination, oily, and problematic skin, as well as mature skin requiring soothing and regeneration. Turmeric, on the other hand, rich in curcumin, enhances this effect through its strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Curcumin inhibits NF-κB and tyrosinase activity, thereby supporting the reduction of discoloration, evening of skin tone, and slowing down the aging process. 4 Hits from the Orientana Sandalwood Series The Orientana Sandalwood series is not just one, but four complementary cosmetics that create a complete skincare ritual – from face to body. Balance Face Oil - Sandalwood and Turmeric Balance Face Oil is a product created for combination, oily, and blemish-prone skin. Sandalwood extract supports skin balance and has a soothing effect, while turmeric reduces inflammation and helps even out skin tone. Thanks to the presence of light plant oils, such as almond and grapeseed oil, the formula does not clog pores, strengthens the hydrolipidic barrier, and restores skin balance without a heavy feel. Balance Face Cream - lightness, soothing, and regeneration Balance Face Cream with Sandalwood and Turmeric is a light, hydrating and regulating formula for daily care. It is suitable for both morning and evening use, especially for skin that is: overreactive, prone to oiliness, with a tendency to redness and acne lesions. The cream supports skin regenerative processes, reduces discomfort, and protects against oxidative stress, making it an excellent element of urban skincare (anti-pollution). Sandalwood Body Balm - Ayurvedic skin soothing Sandalwood Body Balm is an answer to the needs of dry, sensitive, and irritated skin. It has regenerating and soothing effects, and supports the natural renewal processes of the skin. Regular use of the balm: improves skin elasticity and softness, reduces the feeling of tightness, supports the protective barrier of the epidermis. This cosmetic is ideal after bathing, depilation, or during periods of increased skin dryness. It has a sandalwood scent. Sandalwood Mist - Skincare and Aromatherapy in One Sandalwood Mist is a multi-functional cosmetic that combines skincare with the aromatherapy benefits of its scent. It can be used on the body, as well as to refresh during the day. The scent of sandalwood has a calming effect, reduces tension and stress, and at the same time soothes the skin and restores its comfort. It is an excellent element of the Ayurvedic "slow beauty" ritual. The significance of sandalwood and turmeric in Ayurveda In Ayurveda, sandalwood is considered a raw material that balances the Pitta dosha, cooling, soothing inflammation, and supporting skin regeneration. Turmeric - Haridra - is a tridoshic plant, purifying, protective, and symbolically associated with harmony and health. The combination of these two ingredients creates a synergistic duo that acts simultaneously on the skin and the senses - exactly as the Ayurvedic philosophy of skincare envisions. Orientana Sandalwood - Timeless Skincare Inspired by India The Orientana Sandalwood series proves that traditional ethnobotanical knowledge and modern cosmetology can complement each other. Four bestsellers - face oil, cream, body balm, and mist - create a coherent, effective skincare ritual that has enjoyed the trust of customers for years. This line is for those who are looking for natural cosmetics with real effects, a rich history, and authentic inspiration from Ayurveda. Learn moreOrientana natural cosmetics - philosophy, history and mission of the Polish brand
Orientana natural cosmetics are a unique combination of traditional Asian recipes with modern cosmetology and laboratory knowledge. For years, the brand has consistently developed the concept of natural care, based on the synergy of Asian plants, the principles of Ayurveda and CMT (Traditional Chinese Medicine), and contemporary quality standards. Orientana is a Polish natural cosmetics brand that draws inspiration from Asia but produces its products under strict controls, today primarily in Poland. These are not anonymous Asian natural cosmetics of unknown origin, but transparent, European production based on rigorous quality standards. A Polish brand of natural cosmetics inspired by Asia The Orientana brand was created by Anna Wasilewska , whose fascination with natural skincare was sparked by her extensive travels throughout Asia. It was there that she learned about traditional skincare rituals, local plant-based ingredients, and the philosophy of caring for skin and hair in harmony with nature. This is how Orientana natural cosmetics were created – products combining authentic Asian ingredients with a European approach to formulation, research, and safety. Today, the brand is recognized not only in Poland but also abroad. The brand's mission is to create cosmetics that support a healthy, radiant appearance of the skin , without unnecessary additives, with maximum emphasis on the quality and effectiveness of ingredients. Orientana natural cosmetics - ingredients and formulation quality What sets Orientana natural cosmetics apart is their ingredients. The formulas of their creams, serums, and oils include: cold-pressed vegetable oils, vegetable butters, fresh extracts from Asian plants, adaptogens and active ingredients with proven effectiveness. The raw materials used in our cosmetics come from Asia, where they have been used in natural skincare for centuries. Production takes place in plants in Poland, always under strict control and in accordance with ISO standards. Orientana cosmetics packaging is recyclable, which is in line with the brand's responsible approach to the environment. Asian plants and adaptogens - the advantage of Orientana cosmetics One of the brand's most recognizable ingredients is Reishi , an adaptogenic mushroom with powerful regenerative and strengthening properties. Reishi helps the skin cope with oxidative stress, environmental pollutants, and barrier dysfunction. The Reishi series is a high-quality natural cosmetics line from Orientana , available at retailers such as Hebe. The adaptogens used by the brand support the skin's natural functions and increase its resistance to external factors – a feature that truly sets the range apart from other natural cosmetics brands. Orientana natural creams with snail slime Another flagship ingredient of the brand is snail slime , known for its intense regenerating, moisturizing, and skin renewal properties. It's a cult ingredient in Asian skincare, and Orientana uses it in its modern, effective formulas. Orientana natural creams with snail slime are a proposition for people looking for deep regeneration, improved skin elasticity and support for repair processes. Orientana natural cosmetics and modern cosmetology Although the brand is based on plants and traditional recipes, Orientana natural cosmetics do not shy away from modern laboratory solutions. The offer also includes biotechnologically developed ingredients, such as: retinol and its plant-based alternatives, peptides, ceramides, acids supporting oily and problematic skin. Thanks to this, Orientana cosmetics meet the needs of various skin types, from sensitive, through mature, to oily and acne-prone. Orientana natural cosmetics for facial care Natural facial care is one of the cornerstones of the brand's offerings. The range includes creams, serums, oils, and toners based on naturally derived ingredients. The Hello Daktyl and Hello Papaja lines, available at Rossmann drugstores and other retailers, are particularly noteworthy. These are Orientana natural cosmetics designed to brighten, moisturize, and support the skin's natural processes. Orientana natural cosmetics for body care In body care, the brand offers oils, body butters, hand creams, and Ayurvedic-inspired products. These products allow for natural hair coloring without harsh chemicals. Why is it worth choosing Orientana natural cosmetics? Learn moreThe most common mistakes in facial care – what to avoid to avoid harm
A quick reflection: each of us cares for our facial skin as best we can, but even the best intentions don't always yield the best results. Sometimes, unassuming habits can worsen skin condition or neutralize the effects of cosmetics. In this post, I'll present the most common facial care mistakes and how to avoid them—in simple yet effective ways. Let's get started! Poorly selected cosmetics for your skin type Choosing the right cosmetics is the absolute foundation of proper facial care . Unfortunately, many people reach for trendy products, recommended by influencers or friends, instead of listening to their own skin's needs . Meanwhile, what works for oily skin can be harmful to dry skin, and a product designed for sensitive skin won't necessarily work for someone with adult acne. When it comes to facial care, it is crucial to recognize your skin type : dry skin needs hydration and rebuilding of the hydrolipid barrier, oily and acne-prone skin requires sebum regulation and antibacterial ingredients, sensitive and vascular – soothing and strengthening of vessels, mixed – varied approach T-zone vs. cheeks. One of the most common mistakes in facial care is the use of overly harsh detergents by people with dry or mature skin , which can result in tightness, flaking, and irritation. People with oily skin, on the other hand, often avoid creams for fear of clogging pores, which only worsens the problem – dehydrated oily skin becomes even more oily. 🔍 My tip: Before you buy a cosmetic, read not only its description but also its ingredients (INCI) . The full INCI should be on the packaging and on the product card in online stores. If it's missing and only the active ingredients are listed, run away from the site. When it comes to facial care, it's worth choosing products without denatured alcohol and strong fragrances if your skin is sensitive. Instead, opt for natural plant extracts, adaptogens, and soothing ingredients that support skin balance. I encourage you to read the post: What type of skin do I have? Skipping makeup removal and double cleansing Removing makeup isn't the same as washing your face. It's the first and crucial step in your evening skincare routine , removing not only makeup but also UV filters , sebum , and impurities from the day. Skipping this step or replacing it with micellar water alone is a very common mistake, especially among people with problematic skin. This can result in clogged pores, imperfections, and reduced absorption of active ingredients from subsequent skincare steps. Why is it worth using two-step facial cleansing? This is an Asian method that has taken the Western skincare world by storm – and for good reason: Step 1 : makeup removal with oil, balm or milk – dissolves makeup and SPF . Step 2 : gentle gel or foam – removes oil residue and cleanses pores . Thanks to this method , the facial skin is truly clean , but not dry or irritated – which is especially important in the daily care of sensitive and mature skin. 🔍 My tip: Choose gentle cleansers without SLS and SLES , preferably with natural cleansing ingredients, such as coconut or oat. Look for products enriched with adaptogens, panthenol, trehalose, or ferments – gentle on the skin yet effective. Excessive or overly aggressive cleansing Paradoxically, excessive concern for skin cleanliness can be counterproductive. Excessive facial cleansing—especially with aggressive gels, sonic brushes, or mechanical exfoliators—can damage the skin's natural protective barrier . Daily facial care is about balance, not sterility. The natural hydrolipid layer is a shield that protects the skin from dryness, allergens, pollutants, and bacteria. If damaged, the skin becomes reactive, sensitive, and even begins to become oily as a defense mechanism. Common errors: Washing your face more than twice a day Using gel with alcohol or strong detergents Cleansing with a sonic toothbrush every day instead of 1-2 times a week Rubbing the skin with a towel or cotton pad 🔍 My tip: Follow the principle of gentle but thorough cleansing . The gel or foam should have a pH close to the skin's own (~5.5) and contain soothing ingredients such as aloe vera extract, date extract, rose oil, or polysaccharides . Remember to pat, not rub, dry your skin . Exfoliating too often Exfoliation is an important part of facial care , but only when used sparingly and sensibly. Exfoliating dead skin improves the absorption of active ingredients, smooths the complexion, and adds radiance. However, exfoliating too frequently or too vigorously can be disastrous for your skin. Exfoliating too aggressively destroys the hydrolipid layer , causes micro-damage, and leads to irritation, dryness, and sometimes even hyperreactivity of the skin and worsening acne. This is a serious mistake in facial care that can disrupt the skin's natural microbiome. How often should you use a scrub? Dry and sensitive skin : max. once every 10–14 days Combination and oily skin : 1–2 times a week Skin with rosacea and vascular problems : only mild enzymatic peels or none at all 🔍 My tip: Enzymatic peels are best for facial care – they're gentler and don't mechanically irritate the skin. Avoid coarse-grained peels with sharp particles (e.g., apricot kernels), which can damage the epidermis. No toning or wrong toner Toner is an often-skipped step, but proper facial care shouldn't be complete without it. Toning restores the skin's physiological pH after cleansing, soothes irritations, and prepares the skin for subsequent cosmetics. It's a "starter" that increases the effectiveness of the entire skincare routine. Failure to use toner can result in dryness and impair the effectiveness of serums or creams. Using toners containing denatured alcohol is also a mistake, especially for sensitive, dry, or couperose-prone skin. What is the difference between a tonic and a hydrolate or essence? Tonic – restores pH and soothes Hydrolate – plant water with a light care effect Essence – more concentrated, often with added humectants and extracts You can also combine the tonic with the essence and I recommend this product the most. 🔍 My tip: When choosing a toner for daily facial care, look for ingredients like gluconolactone, aloe vera, date extract, rose extract, or green tea . Good toners not only refresh but also nourish the skin during cleansing . They're recommended for use both morning and night. Applying cosmetics in the wrong order This is a mistake that can completely undermine your daily facial care routine. Even the best cream or serum won't work properly if applied at the wrong time or after a product that's too heavy and prevents it from absorbing properly. General rule: We apply cosmetics from the lightest to the heaviest consistency —from water-based toners and essences, through gel serums, to nourishing creams or oils. The incorrect order can lead to a sticky feeling, product roll-up, or... no effect. Correct order of facial care: Cleansing (gel, foam) Toning (tonic, hydrolate) Serum / booster / essence Moisturizing or nourishing cream Sun protection (morning) Occlusive oil/cream (if needed, at night) 🔍 My tip: Some active ingredients require special attention – for example, vitamin C and niacinamide work best early in the facial care routine, before applying cream. Retinol and acids, on the other hand, are best applied in the evening and protected with SPF in the morning. I don't know if you've noticed, but on our packaging you'll find a diagram for applying our cosmetics. No sun protection (SPF) Too many people still think that sunscreen is just for the beach or vacation. In reality, sun protection is one of the most important elements of daily facial care – year-round, regardless of the weather or season. UV radiation is responsible for up to 80% of the signs of skin aging : loss of firmness, discoloration, wrinkles, and a dull complexion. Furthermore, UVA penetrates through clouds and windows, so even on a cloudy day, sitting by a window exposes your skin to photoaging. Common SPF Mistakes: Skipping SPF completely in your daily facial care routine Use SPF only in summer or only on vacation Applying too little sunscreen No reapplication during the day (e.g. after prolonged exposure to the sun) 🔍 My expert tip: Choose creams with mineral or modern chemical filters that are photostable and safe for the skin. Light formulas that can be easily applied under makeup are best for daily facial care. Improper storage of cosmetics This mistake in facial care is often underestimated, but it can significantly impact the effectiveness of cosmetics. Excessive temperature, sunlight, or humidity can accelerate the degradation of active ingredients and even cause the cosmetic to stop working—or even become harmful. Where NOT to keep cosmetics? On the windowsill, where the light reaches and the temperature changes In the bathroom by the radiator In open, overheated cosmetic bags while traveling In the refrigerator (unless the manufacturer recommends) Some ingredients, such as vitamin C, retinol, acids, and ferments , are extremely sensitive to oxidation, light, and heat. This is especially important in the context of facial care, as these ingredients are meant to be effective and safe. Not to mention that they should be packaged in dark glass; otherwise, they won't work. 🔍 My tip: Store cosmetics in a dark, cool place , preferably in their original packaging. Pay attention to the expiration date and PAO (Period After Opening). If a product has changed scent, consistency, or color, don't risk it. Impatience and frequent product changes Many people make the same mistake when it comes to facial care: they expect results overnight , and if they don't see improvement after a few uses, they reach for something new. However, skin needs time to respond – and biological changes occur gradually, usually in a cycle of about 28 days (the epidermis' renewal period). Changing products frequently can: disrupt the skin barrier lead to irritation or a rash of imperfections make it difficult to assess what really works (or harms) How long should you test one cosmetic? It's recommended to use a new product for at least 3–4 weeks before assessing its effectiveness. Of course, if severe burning, itching, or a rash occurs, discontinue use immediately. 🔍 My tip: Introduce new cosmetics one at a time , ideally every few weeks, to observe your skin's reaction. Do a patch test —for example, on your neck or behind your ear—before applying a new product to your entire face. Touching your face with your hands and poor hygiene of accessories Even the best facial care routine won't work if you're constantly transferring bacteria and pollutants to your skin . Touching your face with dirty hands is a very common habit that can cause inflammation, breakouts, and worsening skin conditions—especially in acne-prone and combination skin. Equally dangerous are: dirty makeup brushes and sponges, towels used too long, cell phone touching face. How to maintain hygiene in facial care? Wash your hands before applying any cosmetics. Wash your brushes and accessories 1-2 times a week Use a separate, fresh face towel (e.g. paper) Wipe your phone screen 🔍 My tip: Hygiene is the foundation of effective facial care. Sometimes skin problems have prosaic causes – and they're not the result of bad cosmetics, but rather contact with bacteria , for example, from a keyboard, headphones, or pillow. Effective facial care isn't about using the most expensive cosmetics or copying other people's routines. It's about daily care based on awareness, consistency, and… humility towards the needs of your own skin. In this post, I presented the most common facial care mistakes that can sabotage the effects of even the best products: – poorly selected cosmetics, – skipping makeup removal, – excess cleansing or peeling, – no SPF, – touching the face with the hands, – and many other little things that add up to a bigger problem. The good news? All of these mistakes are easy to fix. Conscious facial care starts with knowledge—and that's exactly what we wanted to share with you today. Want to make sure your daily facial care routine really works? Choose natural cosmetics tailored to the needs of your skin , which support balance, protect the hydrolipid barrier and provide active ingredients without unnecessary additives. 🌿 See our collection of facial care cosmetics.
Learn morePolish cosmetics brand Orientana - my history, my philosophy
Did you know that one of the most inspiring Asian-inspired cosmetic brands was founded... right here in Poland?Orientana is my personal journey – inspired by travels to Asia, biological studies, and a fascination with plants. I wanted to create a Polish cosmetic brand that would combine respect for nature with the power of plants and the effectiveness derived from Ayurvedic wisdom.Today, after several years, Orientana inspires thousands of women and men to more conscious, natural skincare. I want to tell you how it all began. The beginnings of Orientana – how the Polish cosmetic brand was created After turning 40, I completely changed my professional life. I quit my corporate job and started a new chapter. Too late? That's a myth. We women can do anything. We just need to believe in ourselves. I am a woman in love with nature and a healthy lifestyle – always have been. For years, I delved into skincare traditions in India, Japan, and Korea. The more I learned about local rituals and ingredients, the more I felt that this knowledge deserved a place in European skincare – but without compromise. I didn't want to copy what was trendy. I wanted to create something authentic, rooted in respect for nature and experience. That's how Orientana was born – a Polish cosmetic brand inspired by Asia, but created with the needs of skin in our climate in mind. In 2010, I registered the business, and in 2011, I launched the first cosmetics – natural, effective, fragrant – something that wasn't available in Poland and that I knew you were waiting for. And so, step by step, with the help of experts, a brand was created that is now recognized not only in Poland but also abroad. Natural Polish cosmetics inspired by Asia I believe that skincare can be smart, effective, and completely natural. That's why, from the beginning, at Orientana, we create cosmetics based on: Ayurvedic recipes that have survived for hundreds of years, e.g., massage oils with turmeric or sandalwood, Asian plants such as ashwagandha, reishi mushroom, tremella, or snail slime obtained without harm to animals, skincare rituals – the Korean layered system, Japanese Kobido massage, Ayurvedic treatments like abhyanga. We create natural Polish cosmetics that not only nourish but also teach tenderness towards oneself and nature. If you want to start with something unique, check out natural face oils or Ayurvedic rituals. My philosophy and values behind Orientana From day one, I set three principles for myself. And we adhere to them steadfastly: Naturalness We create cosmetics that contain up to 100% natural ingredients. We do not use synthetic silicones, PEGs, parabens, or microplastics. For example: Indian Jasmine – Moisturizing Body Oil. Responsibility We have never tested cosmetics on animals. We do not use animal-derived ingredients whose acquisition involves their suffering. Holistic approach to beauty Beauty is not a "wow" effect for a moment. It's a long-term relationship with the skin. That's why our products – such as Ashwagandha and Peptide Serum – support its natural renewal processes. Why can we call ourselves experts in Asian skincare? From the very beginning, I knew that if we were to create natural cosmetics inspired by Asia, it wouldn't be enough to just draw from tradition. Science was also needed. That's why at Orientana, we not only draw from Asian natural medicine recipes but also follow the latest research, cooperate with laboratories, and analyze each ingredient in the context of its real impact on skin and hair. We know the ingredients we work with – not just from books, but from practice. We know how they work, how they interact, and what biological and cosmetic properties they have. Ashwagandha, which we use in many of our products, is not just an adaptogen known from Ayurveda – today it is also an ingredient thoroughly researched for its anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effects. Reishi mushroom, which you will find in our anti-age series, contains beta-glucans that strengthen the skin barrier, protect against oxidative stress, and support regeneration. Tremella fuciformis, called "plant hyaluronic acid," shows a unique ability to bind water in the epidermis – confirmed not only by centuries of use in Asia but also by modern research. Papaya is a natural exfoliating enzyme that gently removes dead skin cells and brightens the complexion without disturbing its microbiome – an effect we confirmed in dermatological tests. Thanks to this, we can create cosmetics that really work – because we know their ingredients inside out.Because we don't create them from trendy slogans – but from experience, knowledge, and responsibility. What makes Orientana cosmetics stand out? I want every Orientana cosmetic to be the result of a meeting of nature with science and tradition with modernity. Biotechnology + tradition We use modern extraction methods, such as bio-fermentation or advanced processes of concentration and stabilization of active ingredients. But we do not forget the wisdom of Ayurveda. Asian superplants In Orientana cosmetics, we use unique plant ingredients known from Ayurveda and Asian skincare tradition. This is not only an element of our philosophy – it is also a guarantee of effectiveness, confirmed by research and experience. We use, among others, ashwagandha, a powerful adaptogen with anti-aging and antioxidant properties, and Reishi mushroom, which supports skin regeneration and has a soothing effect. In our recipes, you will also find neem, which cleanses and has antibacterial properties, as well as centella asiatica (gotu kola) – a plant that supports epidermis reconstruction, increases elasticity, and reduces redness. We also do not forget about hair care – that's why in the trichological line we use lychee, rich in vitamins and antioxidants that protect and strengthen hair, and amla, the Ayurvedic "queen of herbs" that promotes hair growth and density. It is precisely these Asian superplants that give our cosmetics their unique power of action – natural, but scientifically proven. Polish approach to skincare Although my inspiration comes from Asia – its philosophy, rituals, and plants – all Orientana products are created with the skin of Polish women and men in mind. I know very well that our everyday life – with hard water, variable weather, urban smog, and seasonal dry air – requires cosmetics that genuinely respond to these challenges. That's why Orientana recipes are designed to: protect the skin from the effects of air pollution, strengthen the hydrolipid barrier exposed to dryness in winter and overheating in summer, effectively work in the realities of hard water, support stressed, tired, irritated skin. Although my first cosmetics were created in India, in the heart of Ayurveda, today most of the production takes place in Poland – but still in cooperation with Ayurvedic doctors. We create them in modern laboratories with experienced technologists, and I still actively participate in product development. I have full control over quality and have shortened the supply chain. It is precisely this combination – Asian wisdom and Polish precision – that makes Orientana a unique brand. We create cosmetics that are not only inspired by the East but truly work where you are – in Europe, in Poland, on your skin. Transparency and safety Every product is thoroughly tested, registered with CPNP, and the composition is 100% transparent. Example? Rose Toner – alcohol-free, based on pure rose hydrolate. I want to assure you that from the very beginning, we have provided full information about the ingredients of our cosmetics, and I know this is very important to you. I invite you to the world of Orientana Orientana is not just cosmetics. It is an invitation to a world where skincare becomes a ritual, and contact with nature – a daily practice.I created this brand with you in mind. I hope you find something more than a product in it – you will find closeness to nature and peace. With kind regards,Anna Wasilewska If this topic interested you, get to know us better – visit the "About Us" tab or discover natural Polish cosmetics that we create out of passion for plants and Ayurveda.
Learn moreDo you really need under-eye patches? Effective, eco-friendly alternatives
Eye patches have enjoyed unflagging popularity for years among those seeking a quick refreshing effect for their eyes. Known for their "wow-effect," they are eagerly showcased on TikTok and Instagram—as a morning ritual before an important event, an evening soothing treatment after a long day, or an element of a trendy self-care routine. Cooling, gel, golden, or caffeine-infused—they look impressive, feel pleasant on the skin, and allow you to feel like you're in a home spa for a moment. But do eye patches truly provide skincare? Should they be treated as a permanent part of a routine, or merely a quick "effect" trick? Critical voices are increasingly emerging—not only due to their superficial action, but also their negative impact on the environment. Most eye patches available on the market are single-use products, packaged in plastic trays and foil sachets that cannot be recycled. They work temporarily, but the mark they leave behind—remains for a long time. In a time when conscious skincare goes hand in hand with concern for the planet, it's worth asking: is there a better, more sustainable alternative to eye patches? Check out other eye care cosmetics. Eye Patches - More Harm Than Good? Single-use and Ecological Footprint Eye patches, although often perceived as a luxurious element of skincare, carry serious ecological consequences. Most of them are single-use products, packed in plastic trays and foil sachets that are not recyclable. The hydrogel materials they are made from also do not biodegrade, meaning that after a short period of use, they end up in landfills, where they remain for hundreds of years. According to Eurostat data, in 2022, approximately 83.4 million tons of packaging waste were generated in the European Union, of which 19% consisted of plastic waste. On average, 36.1 kg of plastic packaging waste was generated per EU inhabitant, of which only 41% was recycled. In the context of cosmetics, as much as 95% of packaging ends up in the trash after a single use, making the cosmetic industry one of the largest producers of packaging waste. Superficial Effect, Not Skincare While eye patches can provide temporary relief in the form of hydration and reduction of puffiness, their long-term effectiveness in combating wrinkles, loss of firmness, or discoloration is limited. They act mainly superficially, delivering active ingredients only to the outer layers of the epidermis. Dermatology experts emphasize that many active ingredients contained in patches, such as collagen or peptides, have limited ability to penetrate the skin barrier during a short application time. There is also a lack of solid scientific evidence confirming their long-term effectiveness in reducing signs of aging. Moreover, relying on patches as the main element of under-eye skin care can lead to neglecting the regular use of more effective products, such as creams or serums, which offer better results with less environmental burden. In light of this information, it is worth considering more sustainable and effective alternatives for caring for the delicate skin around the eyes. Effective Eye Skin Care - What Instead of Patches? The skin around the eyes is one of the thinnest and most sensitive areas on our face. It is here that signs of fatigue, stress, and aging appear earliest – dark circles, puffiness, or fine lines. That is why regular and thoughtful care is so important, not only bringing quick results but also having long-term effects. Are Eye Patches the Only Solution? Although eye patches have gained immense popularity thanks to social media and their quick "wow" effect, they are not the only – or always the best – solution. More and more people are reaching for eye care cosmetics in reusable packaging, such as glass jars or bottles with pumps. This is not only a more ecological option but often more effective too. Why Choose an Eye Cream or Serum? Products such as creams or serums have several significant advantages over single-use patches: Continuity of use: Regular application morning and evening brings better, more visible results than sporadic use of patches. Higher concentration of active ingredients: A good quality eye serum contains highly concentrated ingredients that effectively act on wrinkles, puffiness, and discoloration. Eco-friendly packaging: By choosing cosmetics in glass or recyclable bottles, you reduce the amount of plastic waste – unlike patches, which are single-use and often individually packaged. Better adaptation to skin needs: Creams and serums can be precisely selected to suit skin type and specific problems – from hydration to anti-wrinkle action. Natural Alternatives from Orientana - No Plastic, No Compromises Eye area care does not have to mean a mountain of single-use plastic or compromises between effectiveness and ingredients. In reality, two well-chosen cosmetics – an eye and eyelid serum and an eye cream – are enough to effectively care for the delicate skin in this area. Below are three products from Orientana that can replace single-use eye patches – more effectively and consciously. Ceramide Eye Cream - Repair and Soothe Check out the product This cream is a savior for dry, tired skin with a weakened protective barrier. Thanks to the combination of ceramides, which rebuild the hydrolipid layer, with trehalose (hydrates and protects against water loss) and marula oil (rich in antioxidants and unsaturated fatty acids), the cream provides deep regeneration, soothing, and hydration. For whom? Individuals with dry or sensitive skin around the eyes Those needing soothing after, for example, treatments or intense sun exposure Snail Slime Eye Cream - Smoothness and Brightening For those struggling with dark circles, puffiness, and signs of aging. This non-vegan cream combines the action of snail slime (smoothing, epidermis repair) with caffeine (puffiness reduction) and squalane (hydration and lipid protection). The result? Brightened eyes, reduced under-eye bags, and improved skin elasticity. For whom? Individuals with visible signs of fatigue Mature skin with visible wrinkles and loss of firmness Reishi Eye and Eyelid Serum - The Adaptogenic Power of Mushrooms If you are looking for a product with a comprehensive anti-aging effect, the Reishi mushroom serum will be a bullseye. It also contains bakuchiol – a plant-based retinol alternative, and caffeine for better microcirculation. The light, rich formula will also work perfectly on the eyelids, providing a lifting, draining, and firming effect. For whom? Mature, demanding skin with signs of stress For those who also want to care for their eyelids Summary – instead of plastic, choose sensible skincare While they provide a quick effect, their action is superficial and short-lived – and at the same time, they generate unnecessary waste. By choosing Orientana cream or serum:– you act consciously and long-term – supporting the skin's natural regeneration processes,– you prioritize effectiveness – providing your skin with concentrated active ingredients that genuinely improve skin condition,– you care for the environment – opting out of single-use products and choosing skincare in the spirit of less waste.
Learn moreEarth Day - How Orientana Cares for the Planet
In a world that is increasingly vocal about ecology and responsible consumption, it is important to choose brands that not only care about our health and beauty, but also care about the planet. At Orientan, it is not fashion – it is a philosophy of action. Earth Day is just one day, but we think about the Planet every day. We have always been a brand close to nature – natural cosmetics are our permanent offer and not a response to fashion or trend. Earth Day lasts all year long for us! What exactly do we do? Fewer kilometers - smaller carbon footprint Until recently, some of our cosmetics were manufactured in India. Today, we can proudly say that in 2025, we moved all production from India to Poland. Before I explain why it is so important, I will remind you that we manufactured some of our cosmetics in a factory in India. It was financially supported by us, we adapted it to EU standards, but most importantly, it was manufactured according to Ayurvedic recipes. Our cooperation lasted 12 years and it was time for a change. Why is it so important? Because every ton of cosmetics transported from Asia to Europe generates nearly 285 kg of carbon dioxide. Local production is only 18.6 kg of CO₂ – that is 93% less emissions. We have access to most raw materials in Europe, we have the know-how, we know how to make Ayurvedic cosmetics and we want to be more friendly to the Earth. The time of our transformation has just ended and preparations for production in Poland have become possible. Packaging that has a second life Packaging is an integral part of a cosmetic, but it can be designed with the environment in mind. Therefore: most of our products are in glass jars and bottles that can be easily recycled or reused; if we use plastic, it should only be RPET – i.e. recycled plastic – and up to 70% or 100%; Where possible, we do not use cardboard boxes. Cosmetics that plant trees Last year we organized a campaign thanks to which shopping in our online store was also a real contribution to planting trees. Because we believe that nature deserves not only not to be harmed, but also to be actively supported. Only what is good for the earth You won't find any ingredients derived from petroleum in our cosmetics. No paraffin, mineral oils, silicones or other synthetics. Instead - natural plant ingredients: extracts, oils, butters and hydrolates. Because it is from nature that we draw our strength - and we don't have to destroy it to look good. We educate together with Ekocykl At Orientan, we believe that change begins with awareness. That is why we engage in educational activities – because the more we know about ecology, the better decisions we make every day. For years, we have been cooperating with the company Ekocykl, which specializes in spreading knowledge about recycling, selective waste collection and the circular economy. Together we organize campaigns, participate in educational projects and show how to practically implement the principles of eco-life - without complicated theories and zero waste for show. Thanks to this cooperation, we share knowledge, inspire and build ecological awareness that stays with us longer than the effect of the best serum. we work for the sake of endangered Asian animals Love for nature is not only about plants and landscapes – it is also about caring for endangered species. At Orientana, we decided to act specifically: we adopted two exceptional animals, which we help both in Poland and in their natural environment. Hornbill – Hello Daktyl series ambassador This beautiful and majestic bird, whose image adorns our Hello Daktyl cosmetics, has a special place in the heart of Orientana. At the Warsaw Zoo, we adopted a pair of hornbills in cooperation with the ZOO Foundation, but our help does not end with symbolic care. Thanks to our cooperation with the foundation, we have also been involved in the protection of hornbills in their natural environment – we have supported the construction of nests and educational projects that raise awareness of the important role these birds play in the ecosystems of Southeast Asia. Red panda – the heroine of Hello Papaya The second animal we have given a symbolic home to is the red panda – a charming but endangered inhabitant of the Himalayas and southern China. You will find its image on our Hello Papaja cosmetics. Adopting a panda is not just a gesture for us – it is part of our mission to remind everyone that every consumer decision matters. We hope that when you see the images of these animals on our packaging, you will think about the fact that there are species of animals on Earth that are dying out. We segregate, we don't waste - zero waste in practice Earth Day is an everyday occurrence for us – also in the office. That is why at Orientan we separate all waste, collect recyclable materials and constantly learn how to reduce waste production. We also don't waste cosmetics. Products that have a shorter expiration date or minor aesthetic defects (e.g. a damaged box) are given a second chance instead of ending up in the trash. There is an official outlet on the orientana.pl website, where we offer them at a lower price. This is our way of fighting overproduction and a practical approach to the idea of less waste. Small Choices. Big Difference When you buy Orientana cosmetics, you do more than just skincare. You choose a brand that works in harmony with the planet, reduces emissions, eliminates plastic, plants trees, educates, supports endangered species and says zero waste. We are #TeamZiemia.
Learn moreRed Panda and Orientana - what connects them? Discover 4 cosmetics from the Hello Papaja series!
How is the red panda connected to the Orientana brand? Orientana is a brand of natural cosmetics with extracts from Asian plants. It was created out of a fascination with the nature of Asia. In addition to producing natural cosmetics that care for the body and senses, we also have an educational mission. We want to tell you what species of animals may soon become extinct and how you can help. We decided that our natural cosmetics series called Hello would of course be vegan and not tested on animals, but would also take care of Asian animals threatened with extinction. On the packaging of the cosmetics we placed a drawing of an endangered Asian animal, and the next step was financial support related to real help for this species. In the case of the Hello Papaya series, it is a red panda. What does a red panda look like? The red panda (Ailurus fulgens), also known as the "red panda" or "little panda," is an adorable mammal that inhabits the mountainous forests of Asia, primarily in Nepal, China, Burma, Bhutan, and northeastern India. Although often associated with its popular black-and-white cousin, the giant panda, the red panda is an entirely separate species that belongs to its own family, Ailuridae. Red pandas are relatively small: their body length is around 50–60 cm, and their fluffy tail can be up to 50 cm long. Agile and excellent climbers, red pandas have thick, rusty-brown fur that protects them from the cold of the mountain forests. The tail not only serves as a barrier against the cold, but also helps maintain balance when climbing. Thanks to its appearance and behavior, the red panda has gained popularity as one of the most adorable and friendly species in the world. How many pandas are there in the world? There are fewer than 10,000 of them. The population of the red panda (Ailurus fulgens) has declined significantly since the 1980s. In 1980, the number of these animals was estimated at around 20,000–25,000 individuals in the wild. There are now 10,000 and this number is decreasing. The red panda inhabits highland forests, often at altitudes between 2,200 and 4,800 meters above sea level. It chooses places with dense vegetation, full of bamboo – the main element of its diet. In addition to bamboo, the red panda also eats fruits, berries, leaves and, occasionally, insects and small vertebrates. It leads a solitary life, is active mainly at dusk and dawn. Unfortunately, the red panda is currently listed as an endangered species (category “Vulnerable” according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, IUCN). One of the biggest threats to these animals is deforestation, which leads to the loss of their natural habitat. Another problem is poaching – red panda fur is sought on the black market, and the animals are also illegally captured for illegal trade. In addition, there is habitat fragmentation, climate change, and diseases transmitted through contact with humans and pets. How can we help and what did Orientana do? Orientana contacted the most well-known and trusted organization, Red Panda Network (RPN). It is a non-profit organization founded in 2007 that is dedicated to the protection of the red panda and its natural habitat. Their mission is to protect the panda from extinction through conservation activities and monitoring of the panda habitat, but also in terms of education and involvement of local communities Since its establishment, the Red Panda Network has implemented numerous projects in Nepal, where the red panda is most abundant, although it is seriously endangered. The organization works with local communities to educate and engage them in activities to protect this extremely valuable species. The Red Panda Network is a habitat protection organization, working with local authorities and landowners to protect forest areas and prevent their logging. The RPN regularly conducts population surveys of the red panda in Nepal, which allows for a better understanding of the numbers and health of these animals. The organization conducts educational programs in Nepalese schools and villages, which aim to raise awareness of the importance of nature conservation and the impact of their actions on the life of the red panda. The Red Panda Network engages local residents by creating training programs for the so-called "Forest Guardians" - field guards who monitor red panda habitats, record signs of poachers' presence and inform about possible threats. Red panda and palm oil – a tragic combination! Do the cosmetics you buy contain palm oil? Please check. Orientana does not use this ingredient in its cosmetics, but believe me, large international cosmetic brands do and even have factories of this oil in Asia. Palm oil is the most commonly used oil in the world. It is found in many everyday products, a key raw material for the food market, and an ingredient in cosmetics such as soap or toothpaste. The growing demand for palm oil poses a threat to the natural environment. Valuable natural areas in Southeast Asia are being destroyed for new plantations. The destruction of tropical forests for palm oil plantations leads to a loss of biodiversity and threatens many animal species, such as the orangutan, the Sumatran elephant and the red panda. Jungle forests are being burned to make room for industrial palm oil plantations. Most often, this is the result of illegal arson. Additionally, when forests are burned, greenhouse gas emissions increase many times over, which significantly contributes to climate change. Red pandas are dying, and if some survive, they no longer have their habitats and food. Around the world, conservation organizations are looking for solutions to the problem of deforestation for palm oil plantations. Our red panda Pinju on the Hello Papaja series packaging. In September 2024, the month of the Hello Papaya series premiere, we adopted a panda named Pinju. Pinju lives in the red panda conservation area called Panchthar-Ilam-Singhalila, located in eastern Nepal. He is a young male. He eats bamboo and also likes mountain ash berries from mountain ash trees. He is a bouncy mammal, likes to roam in the branches of trees. He is often spotted by the river. You can find a drawing of a red panda in the vitamin C series - HELLO PAPAJA: Hello Papaja Vitamin C Serum Brightening Discolorations 30 ml Energizing Day Cream with Vitamin C Hello Papaya 40 ml Hello Papaya Micro-Exfoliating Night Cream with Vitamin C 40 ml Brightening cream-mask with vitamin C HELLO PAPAJA 40 ml We want to talk about it and we want you to know from us that this beautiful animal, which we often see in cute illustrations or as a mascot, is actually being destroyed by humans. You might not like a post on TikTok, IG, or Facebook about a cute panda happily eating a banana in someone's home. This is usually an animal that has been kidnapped from the jungle, smuggled, and sold. It lives in captivity. Perhaps when you are in Asia you will protest when someone mentions the hunting of red pandas. Maybe you will give up visiting a red panda "sanctuary" which offers contact with the animal as an attraction for tourists, suggesting to feed and pet it. In reality these animals are held in captivity and people benefit from it. You may want to stop supporting brands that are listed on ethicalconsumer.org’s August 2023 list as using a lot of palm oil, some with factories in Asia. The list includes Dove, L’Oreal, Bahlsen, L’Occitane, Head and Shoulders, Pampers, Always, Clarins, Bull Dog, Nestlé, Aesop, Caffè Nero, Domino’s Pizza, Colgate-Palmolive, Max Factor, Wella. The full list here RED PANDA NETWORK - ACTIVITIES Forest Guardians Program One of the most important RPN programs is the Forest Guardians initiative. This project trains local residents to become wildlife rangers who monitor red panda habitats. The rangers are able to respond quickly to threats such as illegal logging, as well as report any signs of poaching. The Forest Rangers play a key role in protecting the red panda habitat. This not only allows for strengthening nature conservation, but also for engaging local residents in environmental activities. The Rangers also support scientific research – they collect data on the red panda population, which is used by researchers to assess the effectiveness of conservation activities. Educational Activities – Building Awareness Red Panda Network places great emphasis on environmental education. Working in local communities, the organization teaches children and adults about the importance of protecting the red panda and its environment. Through workshops, lectures and educational programs, RPN builds environmental awareness, which influences changes in behavior and attitudes towards nature. Cooperation with government and international organizations Red Panda Network also works with the Nepalese government and international conservation organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Through these collaborations, the organization can scale its operations and influence environmental policy. In 2018, the Nepalese government officially declared “National Red Panda Conservation Day,” which is a great achievement for the Nepalese National Red Panda Conservation Day and the result of many years of educational efforts. Thanks to this initiative, the protection of the red panda has become a higher priority for the authorities and the wider local community. RED PANDA - Challenges and Future of Conservation Despite the increased work to save the red panda, we still face many challenges. Climate change is affecting the weather in the region, which is leading to reduced food availability and changing the habitat of the red panda. Increasing population and infrastructure development are also increasing pressure on ecosystems. There is still the problem of palm oil and displacement of pandas, and the problem of poaching and trade. Therefore, we must be aware that this also depends on us.
Learn moreORIENTANA HELP 2021
At Orientana, we have our own value system, which includes not only shaping ecological attitudes, but also helping those in need. We are eager to engage in charity events because we feel the need - both as a company and individually, our employees do it. We will tell you what the most important projects in this area we have implemented in 2021! Already in January, like every year, together with the Independent Students' Association of the Warsaw School of Economics, we supported the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity by donating cosmetic sets for auction. In the spring, we donated thousands of hand creams to medics whose hands were in dire need of support. Disinfectants used dozens of times a day unfortunately dry out the skin. After a similar campaign in 2020 – at the beginning of the pandemic – we knew that our Snail Slime Hand Cream was great at regenerating even the most irritated and dry skin of doctors and nurses. On the occasion of Children's Day, we organized a campaign to collect likes on our social media. Our post was liked by 11,064 people and we transferred this amount in złoty to the account of the Mała Polska w Nepalu foundation. The foundation helps rebuild destroyed schools, finances children's education and treatment. We are glad that we could help! The last week of vacation was marked by our four-legged friends. We donated 10% of the income from your orders to the Westy do Adopcji Foundation . If you are considering adoption or would like to support animals, we cordially invite you to this foundation! The time before Christmas is a period in which we encouraged you to buy our special Advent Calendar. This is an original project, from which the entire income was received by us by the Adra Foundation . The windows in the Calendar contained information about the specific help that is provided to children and a specially selected quote for each day of December. The Adra Polska Foundation is a branch of an international organization that deals with helping those in need from all over the world. The income from our Calendar was allocated to children from a school in Tongi, Bangladesh.
