Winter facial care

WHY DOES OUR SKIN NOT LIKE WINTER? Winter facial care requires special attention, because low temperatures, wind and dry air in heated rooms can significantly weaken the skin's protective barrier. At this time, the skin becomes more susceptible to dryness, redness and irritation. However, proper care activities can effectively counteract these problems. Winter is a challenge for our skin, especially facial skin. At this time of year, it is exposed to wind, frost and many other unfavourable weather conditions, not to mention air conditioning and frequent temperature changes, which also do not have a good effect on its condition. This is particularly problematic for people with sensitive skin, although winter also affects other types of skin. Therefore, with the arrival of winter, it is worth thinking about proper care. HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SKIN IN WINTER? Our skin needs more care in winter, which does not mean that it is advisable to apply a lot of cosmetics. Instead of quantity, we should focus on quality and choose only the most effective, yet gentle and natural cosmetics for the face, which will not burden our skin too much, but will take care of its needs and provide the necessary protection. It is important to remember about regularity - only through daily use of natural face creams will we achieve the expected effects. Cleaning The basis of skin care is its gentle cleansing. In winter, avoid soaps and products that contain strong detergents, such as SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate), because they can dry out the skin. Instead, it is worth reaching for gentle milks, oils or foams with moisturizing properties. After cleansing, it is worth washing the skin with a toner, which restores its natural pH. Reach for the Facial Cleansing Foam or Facial Cleansing Gel . Moisturizing and protection In winter, the skin needs intensive hydration and protection against moisture loss. The key is to use moisturizing creams with added substances such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin or urea. Equally important are emollients, which create a protective barrier on the skin, preventing water from evaporating. Creams for winter should have a richer consistency and contain nourishing ingredients such as shea butter, avocado oil or ceramides. For the day, it is worth choosing products with a UV filter, because solar radiation affects the skin also in winter, especially when staying in the snow. Lip and eye area protection The delicate skin around the eyes and lips requires special care. It is best to use balms with natural oils and waxes on the lips, which protect against chapping. In the eye area, it is worth using creams with regenerating properties, which prevent drying and the formation of fine wrinkles. Regular exfoliation Although winter skin is more sensitive, gentle exfoliation once a week helps remove dead skin cells and improve nutrient absorption. Enzymatic exfoliators are a better choice during this time than mechanical exfoliators, which can irritate the skin. Additional support In winter, it is worth including nourishing and regenerating masks in your care, which intensively moisturize and soothe irritations. It is also good to take care of proper hydration of the body and a diet rich in vitamins A, C and E, which support skin regeneration. AVOID THIS IN YOUR WINTER SKIN CARE Aggressive cleansing products Products containing strong detergents, such as SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) or denatured alcohol, can dry out your skin and weaken its natural protective barrier. Instead, choose gentle, pH-neutral cleansers. Hot water Washing your face with hot water, especially on cold days, causes dryness and additional irritation. It is better to use lukewarm water, which will not damage the skin's protective hydrolipid layer. No protection against frost and wind Unprotected skin exposed to low temperatures and wind can become red and irritated. Always apply a fatty or semi-fat sunscreen before going outside and protect your face with a scarf or bandana. Too much exfoliation Mechanical peels with sharp particles can damage delicate epidermis, especially in winter, when skin is more sensitive. Opt for enzymatic peels or very gentle exfoliating products, used no more than once a week. Lack of humidity in heated rooms Dry air in homes and offices, resulting from central heating, quickly dehydrates the skin. Avoid staying in overheated rooms and ensure the appropriate air humidity, e.g. with a humidifier. Neglecting UV protection UV radiation also affects the skin in winter, especially in the mountains or on snow, which reflects the sun's rays. Lack of sun protection can lead to skin damage and accelerate the aging process. Use creams with SPF 30 or 50 . Wearing irritating materials Scarves, hats, or turtlenecks made of wool or synthetic fabrics can cause chafing and irritation of the skin on your face and neck. Choose soft, natural materials such as cotton or silk. Excessive use of colour cosmetics Heavy foundations and concealers can further weigh down the skin and contribute to its drying. In winter, it is worth opting for cosmetics with a lighter formula and moisturizing properties. Ignoring skin signals Winter skincare should be tailored to the needs of your skin, which can change throughout the season. Ignoring redness, flaking, or tightness can only worsen the problem. Quick action and proper care are key.
